Stock or Lightly Modded Sierras. This Yukon Ring and Pinion Gear fits all GM 8.5″ and 8.6″ differentials. With a spline count of 30 and an axle ratio of 3.42:1, this ring and pinion would be an upgrade for any Sierra with a base 3.08 gear. As far as gear ratios go, 3.42:1 would be considered non-aggressive and provides a good blend of low end power and cruising ability with stock sized tires, ideal mainly for daily driving, light to moderate towing and some light trail use.
Premium 8620 Steel. Yukon Gear builds their ring and pinion sets from premium 8620 triple alloy steel, an extremely high strength, durable steel that is significantly more durable than stock. Precision machining of all surfaces means these gears operate smoothly and without irritating chatter.
Professional Installation Recommended. Due to the complexity involved with installing a new pinion and ring gear, it is recommended that the job be done by a drivetrain specialist.
