Street and Towing Gear. Switching to a lower gear ratio will increase acceleration, improve off-road performance and facilitate towing on your 2007-2018 Sierra pickup. This Yukon Gear Ring and Pinion has a gear ratio of 3.73:1, meaning the driveshaft spins 3.73 times for every revolution of the wheels. A 3.73 gear is a good upgrade for Sierras that came stock with a 3.08 ratio. 3.73’s will provide more grunt down low that is useful for overcoming small trail obstacles or pulling a trailer, yet is still not too low that city driving will be aversely affected. A 3.73 ratio is ideal for pickups that do split duty between street, towing and trail driving and are still using stock or close to stock sized tires.
Premium 8620 Steel. Yukon Gear builds their ring and pinion sets from premium 8620 triple alloy steel, an extremely high strength, durable steel that is significantly more durable than stock. The helical cut teeth provide smooth, noise free engagement.
Professional Installation Recommended. Due to the complexity involved with installing a new pinion and ring gear, it is recommended that the job be done by a drivetrain specialist.
