Description
For Heavy Trail Use. Changing to a lower gear (numerically higher value) will increase low end power and acceleration at the sacrifice of some at the top. A lower ratio will cause the engine to rev higher for the same forward given speed, which is ideal when you need to carefully crawl over a large obstacle. A 5.38 ratio gear is a significant upgrade over stock (be it 3.08, 3.42, 3.73 or 4.11) and is necessary to power a large tire around the trail. This super low ratio is oritented for trail going 2007-2018 Sierras that see limited road duty, as daily driving characterics are compromised in favor of off-road torque management, acceleration and throttle control
Premium Quality. Yukon Gears uses 8620 triple alloy steel (chromium, molbydenum and nickel) to fabricate these gears. Once formed, the gears are then heat-treated in a 1700 F oven to further harden them and increase their shear strength. Precision machining allows for these gears to be exceptionally strong yet still provide smooth and noise free operation.
Shop Install Advised. Properly installing a Yukon Ring and Pinion gear in your GM Sierra is a complex job that requires very precise measurements and specialized tools. Due to this, it is recommended that the install be done by a professional auto shop.
